Comment summary: Xtreme Download Manager (XDM) is appreciated for its fast download speeds, especially compared to browser alternatives. It is praised for being open-source and serves as a free alternative to IDM. Users find its multiplatform support useful, and it integrates well with browsers. However, the UI and browser integration need improvement, and there are concerns regarding unresponsive developer contact and forum links. Some users experience issues like broken download links and high system resource usage.

XDM has a good interface and all that, good integration... but I have also Download Ninja, a dead project from VPNscout... a thing I noticed between them is that XDM has about half the download speed Download ninja provides me, downloading the same file... with XDM I can't even reach 1MB/s, with Download ninja, same file, I download with 2-3MB/s.

Apart from that, on the website there's no way to contact the developer and the forum link does not work, which makes me become suspicious if this is a legit program or not.

I used it as an open source alternative to IDM, it's fast enough and the video grabber integrated in the add-on is wonderful. Too sad it seems to be discontinued.

Have really been enjoying using this with its Firefox add-on. Nice interface and works fast. It was pretty easy to configure and does just what I want it to.

I tried Motrix which is Electron based and lacks a proper Chromium extension, then switched to XDM and I love it.

Could download for streaming audio from radio websites (with the browser extension) where no other app that I tested could.
