I used it as an open source alternative to IDM, it's fast enough and the video grabber integrated in the add-on is wonderful. Too sad it seems to be discontinued.

hands down best download manager, multiplatform, and the windows binary also has a portable version.
XDM has a good interface and all that, good integration... but I have also Download Ninja, a dead project from VPNscout... a thing I noticed between them is that XDM has about half the download speed Download ninja provides me, downloading the same file... with XDM I can't even reach 1MB/s, with Download ninja, same file, I download with 2-3MB/s.
Apart from that, on the website there's no way to contact the developer and the forum link does not work, which makes me become suspicious if this is a legit program or not.

Have really been enjoying using this with its Firefox add-on. Nice interface and works fast. It was pretty easy to configure and does just what I want it to.
I tried Motrix which is Electron based and lacks a proper Chromium extension, then switched to XDM and I love it.
Could download for streaming audio from radio websites (with the browser extension) where no other app that I tested could.
After installing the chrome extension for XDM my windows 11 refuses to load the default account
