I ran into an issue with Xecrets in Linux and emailed Svante, the author of the software, and the following day I had an answer on the problem. It was due to a third party piece of software. Svante took the time to create a version without said piece and emailed me. You just don't see that type of customer support anymore. Outstanding is the word. If you are looking for encrypting software look no further. This developer is responsive with fast customer support.

What is Xecrets Ez?

Xecrets Ez is an easy to use personal desktop application available for Windows, Mac and Linux. It is compatible with AxCrypt, in fact it is based on the exact same code, but is less complex and is entirely focused on delivering the core functionality needed for daily personal use without the bells and whistles.

Encrypt, decrypt or open files for editing and re-encryption with a click. When finished with editing an encrypted file, close the editing application and re-encrypt with click.

It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux and absolutely no Internet access required or used.

All cryptography is performed by the included open source GPL component Xecrets Cli, which is also a great companion to AxCrypt as well as Xecrets Ez for developers and devops to perform automated tasks with AxCrypt-compatible files.

While Xecrets Ez as such is not open source, it's just a desktop frontend to the command line utility doing all the heavy lifting, Xecrets Cli - and that is open source.
