What is WorkingScript?

WorkingScript is a screenwriting app that runs in any browser and installs as an app that works fully offline — on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, with the wifi off.

It writes Fountain, the open plain-text screenplay format, so your script is a file on your own disk that any other tool can open, now or in twenty years. There is no account to create, nothing is stored on its servers, and there is no tracking of any kind.

The editor knows screenplay format, so you never touch a style menu: type INT. and it knows that is a scene heading, Tab moves to a character, Enter to action. It paginates to industry standard — 54 lines to the page — and handles scene numbers, dual dialogue, revision colours, locked pages, title pages and actor sides. It imports Final Draft (.fdx) and PDF scripts, and exports both.

Real-time collaboration and tracked changes are included free and are end-to-end encrypted: the relay carries ciphertext only, so nobody but your collaborators can read a line. A table read speaks the script aloud in natural voices, a different voice per character.

Writing is free forever, with unlimited scripts. WorkingScript Pro is a single payment of £50 plus VAT — not a subscription — and unlocks the production layer: natural voices, locked pages and revision colours, watermarked PDFs, actor sides, Final Draft export and report exports.
