gdmanjaro0 doesn't think Ubuntu is an alternative to Windows XP
Doesn't have a 32-bits CPU support. Requires more RAM, than windows xp.
backuptabletinfo added Windows XP as alternative(s) to Windows 11
It's the best version of Windows that Microsoft has developed. As much as I no longer have support, I can't stop using it :')
Windows XP outperforms everything in a virtual-machine environment. Every newer version of Windows requires something above 2 GiB of RAM for the VM, while Windows XP needs only about 256 MiB. Even every Linux distribution I've tried is the same inefficiency (I know, I'm doing it wrong).

Cant complaign. Fast on slow machine is fun with this OS
XP is definitely not a good OS... The bane of many IT peoples (self included).
Could you provide any examples supporting your dim view of this cult-classic?

This turd needed to be flushed.
That doesn't mean I think latter versions are amazing - i just dislike XP from a support POV.

In your Virtual Machine, disable internet then Install. Then get the Unofficial SP4 and follow instructions for editing registry. It's good for a lightweight Windows VM or old programs.
Take it online at your own risk, but you'll probably need a firewall and anti-virus to try to plug any holes in it, which will slow it down.
Farewell to XP, many said it looked like Fisher Price, but compared to Vista/8/10 it is better than anything MS made except Win7.
I'm still running Windows XP on one machine, still get regular security updates (Unofficial Service Pack 4 solved those issues). The shortcoming is in availability of browsers, FireFox is no longer supported, its derivative light browsers not versatile. Windows 7 is a poor second but it does support FireFox. What it doesn't do is allow me text based interfaces and easy file manipulation. Its icon based system, for me, is hopeless.
Most Popular Fast Windows on 20s, but it is discontinued
