What is Vowkeeper?
Vowkeeper is a Windows self-blocker for people who can't win on willpower alone.
Once a block starts, it cannot be cancelled, shortened, or uninstalled by normal means — including by you. This is deliberate: the app simply has no "cancel block" command to invoke. Five independent protection layers (resident service, mutual watchdog, signed config, unlock-route blocking, tamper recovery) keep the block enforced.
There is always a free way out. When you create a block you choose a waiting period of 3–24 hours; request a release and it lifts automatically at no charge once that time passes. This works on the free tier too, so you can never be permanently stuck.
Pro adds overnight blocks (up to one week), scheduling a future block, Pomodoro mode, and an optional paid early release. Paid releases are capped: the total you can ever be charged in any rolling 7-day period equals what you paid for Pro — never more. You can lower that cap yourself, down to zero.
Honest about its limits: the Terms of Service openly state that safe mode, an OS reinstall, or removing the drive can defeat it. It raises the cost of giving in; it does not claim to be unbeatable.
- Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) only. No macOS or Linux planned.
- One-time purchase, no subscription. Free tier is fully functional for same-day blocks.
- Code-signed with a certificate issued to a named individual.
- Currently in beta (0.1.x) at a reduced price.
