VOCA (formerly Live Show Captions) is a Mac menu-bar app for people who host live shows, podcasts and interviews. It adds live captions to a stream as a transparent browser-source overlay, and it gives every speaker their own colour, name and side of the screen, so viewers always know who is talking.
VOCA tells voices apart from a short voice print recorded once per person. It can follow up to six remote guests by voice, pulling their audio straight from Zoom, Ecamm or Chrome without virtual audio cables, or up to four people on separate microphones in the room.
It also works as a voice-activated cue assistant. Say a phrase and it fires graphics, lower thirds or overlays, or switches your Ecamm Live or OBS scene. It can switch the scene to whoever is talking. Ecamm users get 34 voice actions, including scenes, comments and recording control (needs Ecamm 4.6 or later).
- Live captions in 20 styles, including chat card, subtitle, lower third, karaoke and word-pop
- Speaker identification by voice print, with a colour and name per speaker
- Voice-triggered graphics, overlays and scene switching for Ecamm Live and OBS
- Live translation of captions into nearly 40 languages
- A free Stream Deck plugin with 22 actions
- Works in any streaming app that has a browser source
Transcription, voice recognition and translation all run on the Mac. Audio, captions and voice prints are never sent to the cloud, and there is no account to create.
Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later (Windows coming soon). One-time purchase, with a free 7-day trial.
