Veusz is a good free program for producing graphics for reports and scientific articles. It has a wide variety of charts (2D and 3D) and allows the production of publication-quality figures with great customization possibilities.

Veusz gets a lot of things right and one major, extremely important thing very, very wrong. Importing data and graphing it are easy. The graphs look nicer than alternatives such as LabPlot. It's free whereas Origin is a subscription. It does curve fits BUT it apparently will not supply uncertainties in the fit parameters, and without that, it is scientifically useless.
Pros: Stable, powerfull, updated, easy. Cons: No 3D graphs, cannot edit data table easily
