Vanilla doesn't actually remove items from the menu bar, it simply puts something on top of the icons and moves them to the left-most part. This causes issues when showing/hiding the menu bar while in a full-screen app. It also makes it so the app's menu items get obscured by the 'hidden' area, obscuring some menu options for the app you are currently in.
I do not recommend this app.

Doesn't really work, and requires a paid version to start automatically.
