What is Upshell?
Upshell is a fast, native SSH and SFTP workstation designed specifically for macOS sysadmins, DevOps engineers, and web developers. Built with Swift and SwiftNIO, Upshell runs inside Apple's App Sandbox with zero Electron overhead, zero tracking, and no required cloud accounts.
Key Features:
• Native Terminal Engine: xterm-compatible terminal with unlimited tabs, horizontal/vertical pane splits, per-host environment colors, and scrollback search. • Co-Session SFTP: Browse, upload, download, and manage remote file permissions (visual chmod grid) on the exact same SSH connection — zero secondary logins. • Bastion Routing (ProxyJump): Multi-hop jump hosts (up to 8 hops) with individual authentication and end-to-end host-key verification (TOFU) per endpoint. • Advanced Port Forwarding: Local (-L), Remote (-R), and Dynamic SOCKS5 (-D) tunnels with a live active rules panel. • In-Process Secure Agent: Private, sandboxed SSH agent forwarding that signs inside the app. Private keys and passphrases stay protected in the macOS Keychain. • Command Palette: Fast fuzzy search for saved hosts, snippets, active forwards, and terminal actions. • Import ~/.ssh/config: Instantly import your host registries, wildcards, ports, and jump configurations with a dry-run preview plan before writing. • Server Dashboard & iCloud Sync: Keep saved hosts, tags, and snippets in sync across your Macs via private iCloud (CloudKit).
Pricing: The core security and connection layer is free forever (unlimited hosts, sessions, tabs, keys, 2FA, TOFU, SFTP, and ?K palette). Upshell FULL adds split panes, port forwarding, bastions, snippets, and iCloud sync via an annual plan or a single lifetime purchase.
