UniverseLAN is a GOG Galaxy wrapper that enables LAN/Direct IP connections for games using Galaxy Multiplayer without the GOG Galaxy client. It's useful when you and others own a game but don't have reliable internet access, the game doesn't support LAN/DirectIP connections, and you want to play together.
