What is Ultraviolet Observability?

Ultraviolet Observability is a self-hosted observability platform for Kubernetes. It runs a customer-operated core inside the user's environment, where it stores and queries traces, logs, metrics, service topology and Kubernetes health data. The core can also be deployed in an air-gapped environment using mirrored signed artifacts and an offline license.

Its sensor automatically captures traffic and request data for protocols including HTTP, gRPC, DNS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Kafka and MongoDB without application SDKs, sidecars or code changes. The platform additionally accepts OpenTelemetry data through OTLP, Prometheus remote-write metrics, and logs forwarded by Fluent Bit or Fluentd.

Ultraviolet provides distributed traces, a service map, log search correlated with trace IDs, infrastructure views, dashboards, alerts, SLO error budgets and burn-rate alerts. A single core can receive data from multiple remote sites over outbound mTLS connections, with site-level and fleet-wide views.
