Typhon is the only open source, modern, Japanese reader for Android with excellent dictionary lookup. I wanted to replace the LingQ reader with Typhon, and it blew LingQ's word detection out of the water. No more wasting time looking up dictionary definitions online and copying them to LingQ - just tap on the word. Typhon let's you focus on the text you're reading!

What is Typhon?

Typhon is a free, open-source ebook reader that allows you to keep your reading progress synchronized across multiple devices. This means you can read a few pages on your phone, than grab your tablet continuing where you left off.

It is a fork of PageTurner ( http://www.pageturner-reader.org/ ) and it adds a feature for Japanese dictionary lookup.

The lookup code takes its root on JadeReader. The dictionary lookup is called JRikai. It has instantaneous lookup, deconjugation, and longest match features which make looking up Japanese word definitions effortless. It also includes ENamdict for looking up Japanese names. Dictionaries are downloaded so that you can use all of the lookup functionality offline.

Typhon is licensed under the GPL-V3 license.
