What is tsrelay?

tsrelay is a self-hosted multichannel streaming server for x86_64 Linux. Distributed as a static binary, it uses a plain-text configuration file and SQLite data file. It accepts HTTP MPEG-TS and HLS live sources and normally passes streams through without transcoding. Channels can start when the first viewer connects and become idle when unused.

For unreliable inputs, tsrelay supports multiple sources per channel, raced failover, buffered reconnects, PCR rebuilding, and a no-signal slate when all sources are unavailable. It provides a set-top-box portal with MAC-based pairing, middleware API support for player apps, M3U playlists on unguessable paths, and a web player in the operator panel. Other features include EPG, time-shift, catch-up, recording, movies and series, radio metadata, parental controls, and multiroom access.

The admin panel includes stream probing and analysis, editing, import and export, client management, connection reaping, access lists, bans, and a REST provisioning API with scoped keys. Multiple servers can form a cluster with master and edge nodes, using UDP for data transfer and TCP for control, packet re-requests, and link resumption. The service runs unprivileged and does not require PHP, MySQL, or nginx. Operators supply their own channels and content. During the public beta, it is free for up to 150 concurrent viewers.
