What is Tscaps?
Tscaps is a browser-based video editor for short-form content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), focused on animated subtitles. Drop a video, transcribe it, style the captions with your preferred template, and export the video with the subtitles rendered into the pixels. Includes a big template library covering everything from classic TikTok-style word-by-word captions to karaoke reveals, highlighted-word emphasis and text blending subtitles.
Two modes:
- Local mode (tscaps.io/local): All video processing runs in your browser. On-device Whisper transcription. Video never uploads. No watermark. No account required.
- Cloud mode (tscaps.io): Server-side transcription plus AI-assisted styling: scene-aware looks, multi-speaker detection, word emphasis, contextual emojis. Full AI on every tier. Free tier has a watermark and a per-period cap. Pro removes the watermark, lifts the cap, and unlocks cross-device project sync.
Captions are a framework, not a fixed preset library. Every look is CSS you can tune, extend, or write from scratch. The editor also handles silence removal and other features such as text behind actor rendering.
Open-core: the editor code is public on GitHub. Cloud-only features (auth, billing, AI styling, server transcription) live in a closed layer stripped from the OSS build.
