This is Open-source software. Also the MATE desktop environment in update 8.0 has many benefits.

Trisquel is a computer operating system, a GNU + Linux distribution, derived from another distribution, Ubuntu icon Ubuntu, which is derived from Debian icon Debian.

The project aims for a fully free software system without proprietary software or firmware and uses a version of Ubuntu's modified kernel, with the non-free code (binary blobs) removed.

Trisquel relies on user donations.

Its logo is a triskelion, a Celtic symbol.
