Terminay is an AGPL-3.0-licensed, open-source terminal application for Apple Silicon Macs and Linux. It organizes terminals, files, and folders into project workspaces with a root folder, color, icon, and file explorer. Tabs can be split, docked, or moved into separate windows.
Its command bar searches commands, file actions, and saved macros. Macros can include text, key presses, waits, prompts, and encrypted secrets. Automations run on cron schedules or events such as agent completion, terminal attention requests, and remote-device connections, with output logs retained. Terminay records local terminal sessions in asciicast v3 format and includes a searchable replay timeline, Markdown, image and PDF previews, text and hex editing, and Git diffs.
Remote browser access uses a one-time pairing link and WebRTC. An MCP server allows Claude Code, Codex, and other agent CLIs to read terminal output, open splits, and run permitted commands. A standalone server is available for Linux machines, virtual machines, and containers.
