What is Termimus?

Termimus is an open-source, desktop SSH manager and terminal suite designed for engineers, sysadmins, and DevOps teams who prefer not to store production credentials in third-party proprietary clouds.

Unlike SaaS alternatives that force cloud account registration, Termimus is Local-First: your database runs 100% offline via embedded SQLite, and private keys and credentials never leave your machine unencrypted. When multi-device synchronization is needed, Termimus connects to your own Self-Hosted Go Sync Relay using end-to-end zero-knowledge encryption.

Key Features:

  • Native Terminal Experience: Multi-tab terminal powered by Rust (russh) and xterm.js, with split panes, resizable dividers, tab drag-and-drop, and input broadcast across multiple panes.
  • Workspaces & Cluster Launcher: Save split layout blueprints with assigned hosts and connect to server clusters with a single click.
  • Dual-Pane SFTP: File manager with fast transfers and an integrated remote code editor with syntax highlighting.
  • Zero-Knowledge Vault: Passwords and private keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and Argon2id. Optional auto-unlock with OS keyrings (GNOME Keyring/KWallet, macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager).
  • Port Forwarding: Manage Local (-L), Remote (-R), and Dynamic SOCKS5 (-D) tunnels with live status indicators.
  • Snippets & Scripts: Store and inject shell scripts directly into active terminal tabs.
  • Self-Hosted Sync: Optional real-time multi-device sync via a lightweight, blind Go/Docker relay.
  • Trust-On-First-Use (TOFU): Automatic host key fingerprint verification to prevent Man-in-the-Middle attacks.
  • Cross-Platform & Native: Built with Tauri v2 and Rust for fast performance and low memory footprint.
