What is TalkingKey?

TalkingKey is a menu-bar utility for macOS that lets you dictate into any application. Hold a global push-to-talk hotkey (default: Right Option) while you are in Mail, Slack, a browser, Notes, your code editor, anywhere, speak, and on release your speech is transcribed and inserted where your cursor is.

Everything runs on your Mac. Audio is transcribed locally with whisper.cpp using the large-v3-turbo model. No audio ever leaves your machine, there is no cloud account, and it works offline. TalkingKey lives only in your menu bar: no dock icon, no main window, it never steals focus from the app you are typing in.
