What is SwiftMediaInfo?

SwiftMediaInfo is a free, open-source Mac app that shows what is actually inside a media file: codec, bitrate, resolution, frame rate, HDR format, audio channels, subtitles, chapters and more. MediaInfo does the reading; SwiftMediaInfo is the window onto it, written entirely in SwiftUI for macOS 26 and later.

Six views of the same report: structured tree, text, raw output, HTML, XML and JSON Compare two files side by side, with every difference marked at field and line level Plain-language explanations for around 70 fields SHA-256 checksums, cached and included in exports Export in six formats, individually or as a ZIP Finder integration: right-click to open, or select two files to compare Read-only, with no analytics, no telemetry and no account

There is also a browser version at https://undisclosed0369.app/swiftmediainfo/online.html that runs MediaInfo locally as WebAssembly, so files are never uploaded.

Install with Homebrew or download the disk image from GitHub. Requires macOS 26 or later and Apple silicon.
