What is Stremio Offline?

Stremio Offline is a free, open-source client for standard Stremio catalog, stream and subtitle addons, combined with a persistent download queue and a local media library. It runs on a home server or Synology NAS and is accessed through a browser, desktop apps or a native Android TV client.

Browse addon catalogs, search across local libraries and connected Jellyfin or Emby servers, play media, and save files to a library or to the device in use. The download queue supports restart recovery, partial-file resume and disk-full pausing. Season and whole-show preparation uses quality, file-size, audio and subtitle language rules. Following provides a release calendar and optional automatic episode downloads.

Multiple library roots support metadata identification and artwork. Household accounts have separate permissions, favorites, viewing progress and customizable Home layouts. Jellyfin and Emby libraries remain read-only, with viewing history stored locally. Playback uses direct play where supported, remuxing when sufficient, and FFmpeg hardware transcoding where available, including Intel QuickSync on compatible NAS devices. The player supports audio and subtitle selection, chapters, intro/credits skipping and configurable next-episode prompts.

Docker images support amd64 and arm64. Desktop apps for macOS Apple Silicon, Windows x64 and Linux x64 can run their own server or connect to an existing instance. Android TV connects to the server; phones and tablets use the responsive web interface. Web and desktop support ten interface languages.

The application is MIT licensed. It is an independent project, not affiliated with Stremio or Smart Code Ltd, and uses its own accounts rather than synchronizing an official Stremio account. No media or preconfigured content sources are included.
