What is StayHere?
StayHere is a lightweight menu bar app that helps macOS Spaces behave more like real workspaces.
If you use Spaces to separate different kinds of work—programming, writing, communication, research, or meetings—you have probably noticed how easily contexts leak into each other. The Dock ignores Space boundaries, window switchers mix unrelated tasks, and a single click can unexpectedly move you to a different desktop.
StayHere adds the missing layer of context awareness to macOS by introducing named Spaces, visible Space indicators, Space-scoped window switching, and more predictable Dock behavior.
The goal is simple: less chaos, fewer accidental context switches, and better focus.
Features:
- Name your Spaces and see the current one in the menu bar
- Get notified whenever the active Space changes
- Prevent unexpected Space switches caused by Dock clicks
- Open new application windows in the current Space whenever possible
- Switch between windows within the current Space only
- Navigate your workspaces through simple keyboard shortcuts
Built by a single developer who got tired of Spaces leaking into each other.
