This is an amazing 3d design software! SolidWorks beautiful textured picture renderings, structural integrity simulations, and intuitive controls put it in a league of it's own!
Although is usable and a somewhat good tool, its proprietary and non-standard file format will lock you in. Every time you upgrade to a newer version of SolidWorks, your files can't be opened with a previous version (even the last year one). This shitty design is probably deliberate in order to force everybody to always purchase the latest version. They want to milk every cent out of you.
By far my favorite application to design 3D objects! I earned an associate certificate for Solidworks and it gave me the ability to design most anything with ease except for things like human faces and other very complex artistic objects!
As title states, its the gold standard for 3D parts modelling and diagrams
Its very expensive to get a personal liscense, unless you get it from an engineering firm -take home copy
Other ways to get it legit ? school , SAE (society of automotive engineers)
