SnailText information
What is SnailText?
SnailText turns speech into text anywhere you type. Press a global hotkey, talk, and your words land at the cursor in any app — Slack, VS Code, Gmail, Notion, browser forms, terminals. The speech recognition model (OpenAI Whisper, plus NVIDIA Parakeet on Pro) runs entirely on your own device. Audio is processed in RAM and never uploaded to any server, which means it works offline and keeps sensitive dictation private by architecture rather than policy. SnailText ships native on both Mac (Apple Silicon, Metal GPU) and Windows (Vulkan/CUDA) with feature parity. The free tier has no time limit and no word cap. Pro adds larger models, 25+ languages, and a custom dictionary.
