What is Slax?
Slax is a modern, portable, small and fast Linux operating system with a modular approach and outstanding design. SLAX is a LiveCD Linux distribution based on Debian (before version 9.2.1 which was released in 16 Nov, 2017 Slax used to be based on
Slackware). Despite its small size, Slax provides a wide collection of pre-installed software for daily use, including a well organized graphical user interface and useful recovery tools for system administrators.
The modular approach gives you the ability to include any other software in Slax easily. If you're missing your favorite text editor, networking tool or game, simply download a module with the software and copy it to Slax, no need to install, no need to configure.
If you are a beginner or you're just too busy to make it yourself, follow a few steps to build your own customized operating system by using web-based interface here.

I have used puppy linux for a while, but this one I find much better. Slax recognized my graphics and correct maximum resolution out of the box, on my laptop. Its a great mini linux that I use on my USB sticks. Although I could not get it to install normally, from the tar file, I used the CD version with Unetbootin, and it worked quite well.
