What is Simple Memo?

Simple Memo is a Captio-style quick-capture app for iPhone. Open the app, type a note, tap Send — your memo lands in your own inbox in seconds. No folders, no tags, no sync settings to configure.

Built after the original Captio app (by Tupil / Ben Lenarts) was discontinued in October 2024, Simple Memo is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a successor to Tupil or the original Captio. It simply recreates the same minimal "type ? send ? done" workflow that many former Captio users miss.

Key differences from Captio:

  • AES-GCM end-to-end encryption — your memo is encrypted on-device before it ever leaves your phone
  • Offline Outbox — type a memo without signal; it auto-resends when connectivity returns
  • ~0.3 second cold launch on modern iPhones
  • Send history stored locally on device
  • Dark mode support
