Warning
The Simple Mobile Tools suite of mobile apps have been bought by ZipoApps in December 2023, and now show some ads, while not being open source anymore. If you're looking for something similar to the original Simple Mobile Tools apps, you should take a look at the Fossify suite of apps (listed on AlternativeTo). DISCLAIMERS :
Adding custom repo might not be as secure as the official one so I'm not responsable if you encounter any problems with them ! I encourage you to do your own research about it !
Also while open source is great for privacy and security it is not perfect. So keep that in mind before downloading any apps.
Most apps that I've listed are privacy friendly but some might be not be perfectly private and secure. I again encourage you to do your own research about them.
I am not a privacy and security expert. I'm also don't consider myself as a developper so I do not have any technical knowledge and so I didn't look into any source code of any apps in this list !
English is not my mother tongue ^^'
My privacy / security tools
In recent years advertising companies started to tracks you everywhere on the web (and even in the "real life") spying you, constantly wanting to know what you are doing, when, where, why and even with who.
So I decided to change my "internet lifestyle" in order not to be tracked anymore. I want to keep my private datas for myself even though I have nothing to hide really. But thinking that major companies are selling my everyday life really bother me.
Then if you want to avoid as much as possible beign tracked here are the tools I use daily.
I'll also include some softwares/apps which are not especially privacy focused but security focused.
And forgive me if I do mistakes, english isn't my mother tongue ;)

It may not have the full feature set of Google Photos, but gives you something priceless instead. Control of your data. You don't have to agree to some moronic ToS to use this application, nor do you need to connect to Google's servers.
It provides a simple and elegant solution. You can theme it to your liking, and exclude/hide folders as necessary.
The definitive Android gallery!
Was sold to zipoapps.
And there is a fork trying to keep the FOSS spirit alive: FossifyGallery
If you still want to use it, the ad free version is on F-Droid. Otherwise, move onto the fossify suite!
A once great open source app, but that was in the past. The developer chose greed and sold all their apps to ZippoApps, an ad/analytics company that has a longstanding history of destroying apps to maximixe their profit while harming the entire user experiance
Luckily a fork was made which i would reccomend https://github.com/FossifyOrg/Gallery
Sold to zipoapps
Was sold to zipoapps and contains ads. But there is a fork trying to keep the FOSS spirit alive - FossifyGallery, available through F-Droid.
Good app otherwise.
This app was sold to zipoapps, now with plenty of ads in free version and ridiculously expensive pro version. There's a fork trying to keep the FOSS spirit alive: FossifyGallery
