    Shotwell is described as 'open source photo organizer designed for the GNOME desktop environment. There are more than 50 alternatives to Shotwell for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and iPad. The best alternative is digiKam, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Shotwell are XnView MP (Free Personal), Adobe Lightroom (Paid), XnView (Free Personal) and qView (Free, Open Source).
