What is ShengJi?
ShengJi, also known as LocalScribe, is a native, local-first transcription app for Apple silicon Macs. It handles microphones, audio and video files, and the sound playing on the Mac using Apple Speech, Whisper, SenseVoice or Parakeet. Transcripts remain editable and can be recovered, translated locally, or exported as TXT, Markdown, JSON, PDF, SRT and WebVTT.
No account is required, and the app does not upload recognition audio or imported transcripts. It requires macOS 15.5 or later; Apple Speech and live captions require macOS 26. The current downloadable build is not Apple-notarized.
