Serial Port Monitor displays, logs, and analyzes all serial data exchange between serial devices and any application. This tool is ideal for monitoring serial communication, all data that is sent to and received from serial RS232/422/485 port, all events that are sent to the port by an application, and the status of these events. Different types of monitored data representation, easy-to-navigate, and customizable interface supplemented with flexible com port configuration and terminal emulation mode make Serial Com Port Monitor the best choice for professional developers. You will be able to monitor, track, log, and analyze the work of any application or serial device. Serial Port Monitor connects to a com port, opened by any application or hardware, and starts monitoring it. From now on, all the data that goes through the monitored port will show in this monitoring tool. Everything is captured in real-time, so you can track down problems immediately.
Moreover, you can redirect all the monitoring data to the defined file or you can copy all recorded data to a clipboard. Serial Port Monitor gives you the ability to intercept and record all serial input/output control codes (IOCTLs), tracking their full details and parameters. After the monitoring period is over, you can save the session and load it next time whenever you need it. Also, Serial Port Monitor provides you with the ability to send data in various formats: string, binary, octal, decimal, hexadecimal, and mixed. More than that, you can change the type of data being sent immediately without closing the session. In the same way, during one session enabled, you can modify serial port settings, such as stop bits, flow control, parity control, data bits, highlighting, etc. whatever you need to follow the work of the serial port. Serial Port lets you choose monitoring filters, thus saving you time and letting you track down only those specific events you are interested in.

I've tried to use free Portmon software for this purpose and disappointed. That didn't work on 64-bit Windows environment. I picked up Eltima solution and it works. Really great tool for monitoring of the serial port device. All data logged, there is a search and filtering. Really recommend to anyone!
Really. I was trying to use the free app from Microsoft. It doesn't work in 64-bit. This tool is stable and easy to work with.
Working fine with the software is the sending of frames to the serial port.
The only one I have found for x64 is "Serial Port Monitor," which is really quite good. Not free, priced at $99.95 USD for a single user license. There is a 14-day trial.
What a beautiful app! It saves me a lot of time, while working with serial port data and protocols. Well done!
This software rocks, and I use it almost every day when testing serial data on the products we manufacture. I only use the "data view" ability, but know this has some more powerful features I haven't tried. I also do customer support over the phone and have had our customers download the software to help me troubleshoot their problems. When the com port isn't working, I can't tell from here, and this software comes in handy in SO many ways! Thanks for such a great offering.
and it totally worth its price! Agree with you!
really rocks! +1
