What is Resage?

Resage is a Mac reading app with an AI reading companion that learns how you read.

You bring your own files — PDF (kept in its original fixed layout), EPUB, and DRM-free Kindle files (MOBI, AZW3). Resage is a calm, full-page reader with a discussion bar that stays out of the way until you want it. Answers are grounded in the actual text in front of you rather than the model's general memory, and any claim that your file says something comes with the passage it came from.

What makes it different from a general-purpose assistant: Resage keeps a private learner model — what you understand, where you got stuck, which explanations actually landed — that compounds across everything you read. It lives on a single page you can open, read and edit at any time. Day 30 does not feel like day 1.

Resage can also read through an entire file locally on your Mac before you discuss it; scanned pages are recognized on-device using Apple's Vision framework, with no OCR tools to configure.

Privacy: your files stay on your Mac and in your own iCloud. The whole file is never uploaded — only the few passages needed to answer a question are sent, and used only to answer it. Models are never trained on your content.

Requires macOS 14.0 or later on Apple Silicon. Free to start, with a weekly discussion allowance; Resage Plus ($4.99/month, $39.99/year) gives you more discussions each week.
