PureQuill Writer

PureQuill Writer is a free writing software and word processor for long-term writing. It opens and saves Word files, lays your text out on real pages with margins, headers and footers, and comes with footnotes, a table of contents and spell checking in seven languages. No account, no subscription – and your writing stays on your computer, even without an internet connection.

For anyone writing at length: a novel, a thesis, a report, a journal. What you see on screen is what ends up on paper. Word files come in with their fonts, spacing, footnotes, headers, footers and images, and Save writes straight back to the file you opened. Finished work goes out as PDF, as EPUB for e-readers, or as a Word file again.

Plus the tools writing actually needs: a word goal, a panel that shows repeated words, word count, text clean-up, sticky notes and a glossary beside the text. Work is saved continuously with a version history, so earlier drafts are always within reach.

No account, no sign-in, no ads, no telemetry. Six dictionaries ship with the app; the German one is downloaded once from suvantra.eu on first use, for licensing reasons, and stays on your computer afterwards.
