Punctum is a speed and focus reader for iPhone, iPad and Android. It shows one word at a time (RSVP), with each word aligned at the point your eye recognises it fastest, so your gaze stays still instead of jumping along a line.

Really enjoyed this app! The best part is being able to switch between the one-word focus mode and the full-page view. I can read smoothly word by word, then jump to the page whenever I need more context or want to reread a sentence. The pacing feels natural, and I love that my books stay on my device with no account needed. Highly recommend it!

What is Punctum?

Punctum is a speed and focus reader for iPhone, iPad and Android. It shows one word at a time (RSVP), with each word aligned at the point your eye recognises it fastest, so your gaze stays still instead of jumping along a line.

If you used Kindle's Word Runner or Spritz-style readers, Punctum works on your own files: TXT, PDF, EPUB, DOCX and DRM-free MOBI, opened straight from the device. You can also share or paste a link to read a web article, or share selected text from another app. It does not open DRM-protected Kindle or library books.

No account, no ads, no uploads. Books stay on the device and you can read offline. It adds pauses at sentence ends and punctuation, a warm-up ramp, a paragraph panel when you slow down, dyslexia-friendly fonts (OpenDyslexic, Atkinson Hyperlegible), free public-domain classics in your language, and an interface in eighteen languages, including right-to-left Arabic and Urdu.

It does not promise a speed multiplier: it starts at 300 words per minute and warns above 400, because in research comprehension scores were lower at higher RSVP settings.

Free to start (about 100 pages, no card), then a one-time pack or a yearly plan.
