Proto Alternatives

Proto is described as 'Fast, next-gen, freeware file manager. Unlike all the Norton Commander clones, this project introduces interesting and new approach to handling files. Incorporates some of the Jef Raskin's ideas regarding “Humane Interface”' and is a File Manager in the file management category. There are more than 50 alternatives to Proto for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux, Mac, BSD and PortableApps.com apps. The best Proto alternative is Double Commander, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Proto are Total Commander, Files, WizTree and Dolphin File Manager.
