What is PrintBus?

PrintBus is a macOS menu-bar application for recording audio played by other applications. After recording is enabled, it waits for sound, starts a take when audio arrives, and saves it after sustained silence. It can name files from metadata supplied by supported music players, while other recordings use a date-and-time name.

Recordings are saved locally as WAV or AIFF files and can use 16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit float audio at output-matched or selected sample rates up to 96 kHz. The application displays true-peak and LUFS measurements for takes, provides preview and drag-and-drop handling, and normally excludes DAW and call-app audio unless those options are enabled.

PrintBus requires macOS 14.4 or later and supports both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It uses macOS system-audio recording rather than a virtual audio device, and its privacy policy states that recorded audio and recording metadata are not uploaded by the app.
