What is PortPlay?
PortPlay is a port forwarding service that lets you host game servers on your own PC and share them with friends — without a public IP address, without configuring your router, and without installing anything on your friends' machines.
When you launch PortPlay, it automatically detects running game servers on your machine and forwards the required ports through an encrypted tunnel. No firewall rules, no router settings. Need more control? Manual port forwarding is also supported — pick any TCP/UDP port, set the protocol, and map it yourself. Works for any game or application, not just the ones in the preset list.
Key differences from alternatives:
- Unlike Hamachi/Radmin VPN, friends don't need to install anything — they just join via a server address in-game.
- Unlike ngrok, PortPlay is built specifically for gaming: it auto-detects your running servers, forwards ports automatically, and includes ready-made presets for Minecraft, CS2, CS 1.6, Terraria, Valheim, and Rust. For anything else — manual TCP/UDP port forwarding covers any game or custom application.
- Unlike playit.gg, PortPlay offers automatic game server installation (e.g., Java + Minecraft server), a built-in firewall for the tunnel, and real-time traffic monitoring.
Free plan: 1 game server at a time, up to 10 friends connected simultaneously, unlimited traffic (fair usage). No time limit, no trial period.
Paid plans (from €1.49/month) add multiple simultaneous servers, more player slots, priority support, and a custom subdomain.
PortPlay is a lightweight Windows application (6.8 MB installer) that runs in the system tray and uses ~50 MB RAM while active.
