What is Palo Alto Networks Applipedia?
Palo Alto Networks Applipedia iPhone application is an on-the-go version of the rich knowledge base of applications controlled by Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls. Applipedia provides information about the nature of each application (e.g., Skype, Twitter, BitTorrent, Sharepoint), including a risk rating, benefits, and specific behaviors exhibited by the application. This enables organizations to make intelligent policy decisions, and then enforce them with next-generation firewalls from Palo Alto Networks – controlling applications regardless of port, protocol, or evasive tactics. Applipedia on the iPhone also includes access to Palo Alto Networks blog entries and videos.

The Palo Alto Networks Applipedia is a great tool if you use PAN firewalls. If you don't then I guess it might still be a useful reference but I've never used it.
The Cisco equivalent, which is what I came here looking for, seems to be a Firepower Application Detector Reference which you can find on the the FMC Technical Reference page. The Cisco version has much less info.Show more ▾ago
