Nowt is a notes and tasks app where every note is built from blocks. A single note can hold writing, a checklist, photos, a voice memo, a map pin, a bookshelf or a row of films, stacked in whatever order makes sense. Type / to add a block, @ to link another note, and drag anything to rearrange it.
Alongside the notes there's a weekly task planner. Tasks sit under the day they belong to, can be marked in progress rather than just done or not done, and a Next Up banner shows what to tackle next. Notes can carry reminders, including repeating ones, and quick notes work like sticky notes on the home screen.
End-to-end encryption is free on every tier and off until you switch it on. With it on, notes, attachments, tasks and everything else are encrypted on your device before they sync, using libsodium. The design is set out in a public whitepaper inside the app.
The look is inspired by Nothing OS.
The free version has no limits on notes, notebooks or tasks, no ads, and includes full backup and restore, export to PDF or PNG, tags, search and a 30-day trash. Nowt Pro adds cloud sync across devices, a web app, ten more block types (tables, audio, maps, films and books among them), note history, templates and task reminders.
Nowt works offline and an account is optional. Made by an independent developer.
