What is Nogrammerly?

Nogrammerly is a free, open-source writing assistant for macOS that works in almost every app: Slack, Notes, Mail, Zoom, Sublime Text and more.

It underlines problems as you type (red for correctness, blue for clarity, purple for delivery, orange for style). Right-click an underline to replace it, copy the suggestion, rewrite the sentence, ignore it or add the word to your dictionary. A small button in the corner of the text field lists every suggestion and can rewrite your selection or the whole message in a Professional, Friendly, Confident or Concise tone.

Everything runs on your Mac. Spelling and grammar use macOS's built-in checker and style rules, and the AI proofreading and rewrites use Apple Intelligence's on-device model. Nothing you type is sent to a server, there's no account, and it works offline.

It's a native Swift app of about 2 MB, MIT-licensed, and needs macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon. The AI features need macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence turned on.
