I use Gramps and sometimes Ancestris. I tried some other softs, and when I tried My Family Tree I found it a very good soft. But it takes a very long time to load my family gedcom and show it (about 9000 people). Unfortunately, I stopped using it despite it seems very good.

Family Tree | Sites & programs

I do not recommend using websites or online programs to create a family tree, as it usually costs money, and the free version is often very limited and there are security issues. Well, then what are the alternatives?
