What is Musicmatch Jukebox?
Musicmatch Jukebox was a media player created originally by Creative Multimedia, later spun off as its own company Musicmatch. It allowed for integrated CD ripping with the ability to automatically retrieve Artist, Album, and Track information from the internet CDDB and Gracenote databases. It offered features such as professionally produced themes, also known as skins, as well as had third party plugins for visualization and sound enhancement through popular plugins such as DFX. It offered syncronization and portable device management for Creative Zen and Apple iPod (Classic) MP3 players.
Musicmatch was later acquired by Yahoo, announced on September 14, 2004. After the acquisition it was later rebranded under the Yahoo portfolio, with major features being removed or limited to Yahoo music subscribers as of version 10. The software was changed to favor active subscribers of their yahoo music service. As the state of the web evolved with regards to multimedia and content rich websites, the software was phased out entirely, as features became integrated into the Yahoo music website. Yahoo eventually discontinued the desktop software entirely in favor of their web service and web platform.
In the principle of listing this software with links to the software as it was known in its prime to Musicmatch fans -- before limitations were introduced, this listing links to the archive.org page of MusicMatch.com as of September 13, 2004, one day before the acquisition by Yahoo was announced.
Acquired by Yahoo on September 14, 2004. Discontinued by Yahoo as of September 2008.

Back in it's prime, Musicmatch was good software for mass tag editing entire albums and doing find and replace for artist names. The premium version allowed up to 48x CD ripping, and the CD identification and tag retrieval was reliable and very complete. The professionally made skins really gave it a wow-effect when using it for DJ'ing events as well as just showing off and browsing your own library. R.I.P., Musicmatch.sdrawkcabadded Musicmatch Jukebox as alternative(s) to iTunes
