What is Modbux?
Modbux is a free, open-source Modbus client and server simulation tool built with Electron and React. It runs natively on Windows, on macOS for both Intel and Apple Silicon, and on Linux for x64 and arm64.
The client reads and writes registers with a data type assignable per register, from 16- to 64-bit integers through floats, doubles, bitmaps, UTF-8 strings and timestamps, with scaling and linear interpolation. Advanced Mode shows every numeric interpretation of a register side by side, so you stop guessing which type is correct. Unit ID and register range scanning find devices and data when the documentation is wrong.
The server side simulates Modbus devices over TCP or RTU, running multiple TCP servers across the full unit ID range, with value generators for realistic test data. Split mode runs client and server side by side so you can test a PLC implementation before going on site.
Supports Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU with automatic COM port discovery, and RTU over TCP for serial-to-Ethernet gateways. MIT licensed. Installer for Windows, .dmg for macOS, .deb and AppImage for Linux.
