In comparison to Alacarte, it is easier to understand what the app is doing. The status bar shows the file location of the selected menu item. Tooltips help clarify what options do.

The Alacarte program has NOT been update for several years and looks like it will no longer be updated or maintained. menulibre appears to be a suitable alternative and contains the new features etc. which are allowed for.
