MediaKnight

MediaKnight is a free WordPress plugin for site owners who share PDFs and images with people who log in, such as clients, students, members or a team.

In WordPress, a file on a members-only page usually stays reachable through its direct uploads URL. MediaKnight adds a Protect action to the normal Media Library. A protected file, including its generated image sizes, moves to a separate folder inside uploads, so the old direct link stops working for visitors, while logged-in users still open or download it through a WordPress access check. A built-in server check tests anonymously whether direct access is blocked on your hosting.

On Apache the rules are written automatically when .htaccess is allowed; on Nginx your host adds a short snippet the plugin generates. It works with local uploads only (no S3 or offload) and with WordPress logins, not with a specific membership or LMS plugin.

The free plugin works without an account. An optional paid Pro add-on adds role-based access per file, bulk protection, automatic protection of new uploads and temporary, revocable share links.
