- Navi reviewed Marginalia Search
Useful for finding indie sites and sites that don't rely on heavy resources. Down side is it lacks contextualized searching ability so you have to use more key word based searching methods. One of my favorite features is "explore" which gives you preview images of random sites from their index.

What is Marginalia Search?
This is an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed. Where this search engine really shines is finding small, old and obscure websites about some given topic.
The software for this search engine is all custom-built, and all crawling and indexing is done in-house. The project is open source.

Comments and Reviews
A very fun (and now open source) small web search engine. Marginalia uses its own crawler to find interesting websites, with an emphasis on older content and independent blogs. It is a great way to find websites and posts that do not readily turn up on general-use search engines.

Its fun and you find weird and interesting things. Also a cool tool for researching a topic.
