The company behind this was bought out, and the new company owner refused to honor current Lifetime license holders & refusing them from using their Lifetime license in newer versions - despite being promised a Lifetime upgrade for newer versions. It's yet another case of well-known software bought out by investors for the name. If they're not willing to honor their past promises, what will they bait & switch you next?

This would be sad if true. I've given them multiple payments over the years. A reminder of caveat emptor when buying software. Announcement link: https://www.globenewswire.com/en/news-release/2022/06/09/2460107/0/en/Paltalk-Inc-Announces-Acquisition-of-Visicom-s-ManyCam-Assets.html

According to Manycam, as a holder of a lifetime subscription you are eligible to claim a 2 year license of the newest version (8 at of 8/31/2022) at your level of subscription. So I assume after two years, you are no longer subscribed.

Fairly unhappy with this app. Nag screens frequently interrupt my work - heavily pushing upgrades to subscription plans or dumb background effects, and the like. Also somewhat buggy after these screens pop up.... since when you close them, it messes up the display / interface of their apps main interface window (the X to close the app, for example, is displayed (offset) below the actual location of the X). Settings involving audio are unclear (might be Windows 10's fault, actually). Overall, generally unimpressed with this software - which seems designed to squeeze a buck out of you - rather than to make a product useful or enjoyable to use.

2/5 stars.

Honestly...I liked this software so very much until they updated their license structure around 2 years ago (maybe 2018 sometime). It is now a month to month subscription rather than a one time license fee....I find the monthly sub to be more expensive than the platforms I'm using to actually deliver video. Truth be told...they changed the license about 2 days before I was to buy a premium license.

However, the software was always very good quality. Some of the delivery platforms (such as Zoom or the new FB meeting rooms) are now baking-in some of the features....but it appears manycam still has the advantage regarding multiple video sources.

Subscriptions were introduced in ManyCam 5.8 for Windows and Manycam 4.6 for macOS. So probably need to do a deep search on the web for the free versions prior to that.
