What is MACRO by Discernable?

MACRO by Discernable is a calorie and macro tracker built by one person for his own use, then opened up to everyone. Your everyday foods sit on the home screen as big buttons, so logging is one tap. It tracks calories, protein, carbs and fat, plus weight, body measurements and optional cycle tracking.

Its Insights estimate how much you can really eat to hold your weight, from your own log and weigh-ins. They filter out water-weight swings, flag food that may be going unlogged, and estimate when you'll reach your goal. All of this is calculated on your phone: there's no account, no ads and no AI inside, and your food diary stays on your device (email backup is optional). If you want, one tap copies a summary of your log for your own ChatGPT or Gemini.

It includes 12,000+ Australian foods and supermarket products. MACRO is a web app you add to your home screen on iPhone or Android. It's free for 21 days, then a one-off A$20 for life, with updates included.
