Mac TV is a native Mac app that gives your Mac a tvOS-style home screen for the TV, in the style of Apple TV with Liquid Glass.
Streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Apple TV, Spotify and YouTube Music run in their official web players inside Apple's WebKit, so DRM and picture quality match Safari, up to 4K on Netflix. You can add any website, Mac app or Steam game as a tile.
Your phone is the remote: scan a QR code and it opens a web remote with a clickpad, touchpad, keyboard and volume, with nothing to install. PlayStation, Xbox and Switch Pro controllers work too.
The Top Shelf rotates artwork from shows with new episodes on each app. A Movies app plays your own video files, including MKV with H.264 or HEVC, with subtitles, audio tracks and Continue Watching.
It also skips intros and recaps, has a sleep timer and an aerial screensaver, and can keep the Mac awake with the lid closed.
Free and open source under the MIT license. Requires macOS 14 or later.
