Local Music Organizer information
What is Local Music Organizer?
Local Music Organizer is a native macOS toolkit for collectors, DJs, audiophiles, and archivists managing large local Music.app libraries and standalone audio files.
Find duplicates and missing tracks, inspect metadata and artwork, compare playlists, analyze audio authenticity, preview files, normalize gain, and convert rare formats. No Apple Music streaming subscription is required. Processing stays on your Mac.
Built by a long-time music collector, the app grew from the practical challenges of maintaining an archive assembled from CDs, vinyl transfers, downloads, rare releases, and collector exchanges.
LIBRARY ORGANIZATION • View useful statistics for the complete Music.app library. • Build a library map and review playlist relationships. • Find duplicate tracks and duplicate playlist entries. • Detect physical files referenced by multiple playlists. • Compare playlists and identify shared or unique recordings. • Search by artist, title, album, filename, path, comments, codec, and metadata. • Reveal a track in Finder or in its exact Music.app playlist. • Create shuffled playlist copies without changing the originals. • Compare duplicate recordings and identify the preferred version. • Use a persistent local cache for fast repeated work with large collections.
AUDIO AUTHENTICITY ANALYZER Scan the complete cached Music.app library, one playlist, or an individual file.
• Detect possible lossy-to-lossless transcodes. • Check ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, and other lossless files for signs of earlier MP3 or AAC sources. • Compare declared MP3 or AAC bitrate with observed audio bandwidth. • Detect possible sample-rate upscaling and bit-depth padding. • Analyze duplicate physical paths only once. • Show confidence, detected cutoff, estimated source class, and a clear explanation for every flagged track. • Create a local report containing Review, Likely, and failed items.
Results are technical estimates, not absolute proof of a file’s history. The analyzer never modifies source audio.
AUDIO INSPECTOR AND LIVE SPECTRUM • Inspect codec, container, bitrate, sample rate, bit depth, channels, duration, artwork, tags, and spectrum. • Open standalone files from Finder or by drag and drop. • Play files in an independent player window. • View a real-time 512-band spectrum, full-track waveform, peak trace, meters, and playback statistics. • Seek directly on the waveform. • Adjust analyzer appearance and playback gain. • Keep playback active while the player is minimized or hidden.
DIAGNOSTICS AND MAINTENANCE • Detect missing files, inaccessible locations, unusual paths, damaged records, orphaned files, and missing artwork. • Review Music.app comments and edit supported metadata. • Generate local diagnostic and operation reports. • Search physical audio files by filename, path, format, and metadata.
BUILT-IN AUDIO CONVERSION No Terminal, Homebrew, external FFmpeg installation, or separate codec pack is required.
