Jing
Whether for work, home, or play, Jing gives you the ability to create basic visual elements and share them with others.
What is Jing?
Jing takes a picture or video of the users computer screen and uploads it to the Web or save locally to your computer.
An URL is automatically created and can be shared with others to view or access the uploaded file. You can use the image tools to add text, highlight existing text, or add an arrow or a rectangle to annotate your capture. With Jing you can take captures quicker than with similar applications.
Discontinued
It will be discontinued due to Flash separation from browsers. Further details at website: https://www.techsmith.com/jing-tool.html

I use Jing everyday to send screenshots to customers and co-workers, and I love it. Being able to send a URL link instead of an actual image is incredibly convenient. The video feature is ok too, but it could definitely be better quality.
This is just a wonderful app.. So easy to use and really easy to share both screencasts and screenshots! I love it!!
The files captured can't be uploaded on YouTube (which is kind of a pain), but it comes with automated uploading to Screencast.com which is convient for just showing family, friends or co-works how to do stuff..
Yea, Jing is freaking awesome. Can't believe not more people is using it.

Jing is starting to show a lot of age and updates are not happening. For easy-shareable screen recordings in the browser I can recommend - it's so simple and great!

Jing crashes few times a day, tired of it and seek for a substitute! Reinsatallation doesn't help, I have Windows 10.
Loved Jing for both screenshots and video, plus the ability to get a share link for free was fantastic. However now that the video feature has died due to the death of Flash, I am now forced to switch to its big brother Snagit.
you need internet to use it, there are better recorders that work offline
The most recent update to Jing has removed all the social uploading features as well as FTP uploading. I've been digging to find an app with FTP uploading like Jing's and have yet to find one outside of TechSmith's paid solution, which I am not prepared to pay for, seeing that they have left the free users in the dust.
Rly good solution for Mac OS X, but Windows version is so bad. Need to fix "Sun" module in Windows.
