It's the PERFECT alternative to Google Photos, even the design looks similar.
Nice, open source to backup your pics. Not the newest idea as nextcloud/opencloud do that already... but then pictures are an important niche.
Did find in pixelunion a provider with 16GB for free, pretty good for a start! And they they are not in Nazimerica but EU. Also, google offers even less space ;p
However, the app seems still buggy - far too often it just stops upping my pics. At first I thought it's me, not knowing all the settings. So, I do settings and after some days/weeks it stops again. Suspecting my provider but no: The settings in immich became stupid again. Why? Dunno? Updates?
Well, fool me once, blame on me - fool 5 times, please get your act together! Once it runs for a year straight, I'll grant you the missing 2 stars, promised!
PS: Oh, forgot one big thing and withdrew another star - one cannot rotate pictures, which makes it quite useless for a show on a big screens!
PS: Thanks for the downvote :D Eventually I found "rotate", it's in edit crop rotate. On android only, though. Oh, well, that's equally bad - rating stays at 2.

The best alternative to cloud-based solutions from Google, Microsoft or Apple. Intuitive and feature-rich, it is really accessible and pleasant to use. The documentation is comprehensive, you can self-host your very own instance in no time on any hardware ! Also maintained by a very active team of full-time as well as volunteering developers that listens to the community.
Works perfectly and fast, even on my average Synology NAS ❤️
Allows users to create folders for photos in any way possible without having to manually sort in a certain way
When it comes to selfhosting, especially when it's preferred, Immich is still the best in easy setup and launch. Great alternative for those migrating away from big tech options like Google Photos, Apple iCloud, etc.
